Our History

Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service has been providing comprehensive services to Warren and Yazoo County residents since 1975. Our current budget is approximately twelve million dollars and our staff of 200 full-time and part-time employees includes psychiatrists, a psychologist, administrators, therapists, social workers, direct care workers, and administrative support staff. The Board and Management Team at Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service foster an environment where creativity and adaptability lead to new services to meet needs and continue the growth of a healthy and vital community. This forward thinking process has led to the creation of new programs that fit our communities’ particular needs. This innovation and creativity along with the willingness to adapt to changing community needs has offered our agency the opportunity to be a part of pilot projects funded through the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service is also sited as a model program for community mental health. Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service receives monitoring visits from the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Department of Human Services, Mississippi Department of Transportation, and the Mississippi Department of Medicaid. Every other year the Ms Department of Mental Health conducts a certification site visit. Our last Medicaid audit resulted in an error rate of less than 0.25%, which is much less than the allowable error rate of 5%.

No one entity can fully support the needs of everyone living and working in our community. The continual development of services at Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service includes building capacity within the organization to develop and sustain a culture of partnerships to achieve our mission.Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service has formed essential partnerships with local schools, community- and faith-based organizations, government agencies, businesses, and other community groups to work together to help individuals and families live in healthy ways and to provide the safe and supportive environments they need to thrive. By fostering collaborations between diverse public and private sector agencies we are better able to address the interconnected needs of individuals we serve through various resources.
